Help on Kandy Dry

I just shot some HOK Kandy art work. When I pulled my blue tape it left what appears to be residue. HOK says to shoot the clear prior to the Kandy completely drying, but I want it dry enough so I can clean my residue on the base which is up against it. How long would you guess that I have before it drys to the point where I can't clear it?
HELP..HELP

Thanks,

The residue will disapear when you clear it. If the candy dries you have to wait like 12 hours for it to dry. Scuff it with a maroon pad and re-shoot. Tape residue is one of those things that happen, just clear over it, it will be fine.
Good Luck /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bounce.gif

HAPPY NEW YEAR to ALL
alien,
Thanks, it did. Another question about clearing. I'm doing my very first paint job, and decided to use HOK kandy. I was quite nervous about it, so I was thrilled when I finished the kandy and started clearing and it looked great. How many coats of clear can I shoot at one time without a problem? If I shoot more coats the following day, does the whole piece need to be scuffed? I can feel a paint edge on my art work, which I certainly don't mind, but I would rather it be a little smoother.
Thanks for any and all advice.

I usually go about 3-4 coats of clear, then sand with 800 grit to knock down the graphics edge. I then shoot HOK UFC-35 for the ultra shine.

quit using that junk blue tape! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/freak.gif I use the green stuff (3M), or the light tan fineline tape. NO residue at all from either...

I agree about the blue tape. you would think that a name as big as 3M would be able to create a fineline tape that didn't leave residue. it's so gummy that if you just set the roll down, it will pick up lint and excessive dust on the sides of the roll. When this happens, it makes it tough to tape out any crisp edges because they have dust and lint. I agree the green plastic fineline is far superior.

I believe the green tape i use is Finishline. I get it from the local PPG supplier. Although it is the same brand, the 3M green tape is great while their blue is crap.
