car needs 1-2 more coats, ran out last night after supplier was closed, been 12-13 hrs. since i sprayed. its Omni brand CC #MC260. can i save this paint job? should i scotchbrite the surface or sand then apply? any help would be great guys. thanks
You 'should' resand it, BUT, if the clear is still soft, you should be all right. If you can push fairly hard with your thumb and it leaves a print, it should be good enough for the new clear to bite into.

With HOK, I've recleared something after about 4-5 hours of drying so I know I wouldn't have an adhesion problem. So I know HOK doesn't have any problems like you are talking about, but yes, you bring up a good point that 'some' clears may wrinkle or do some funky things if the first clear is not hard enough.
I do not know of any clears that do that though.
Anytime should be fine to recoat with clear.
It's just a matter of if you should sand the original clearcoat or not.
If the clear is still fresh, I've done it without sanding before clearcoat (HOK).
If the original clearcoat is hard (normally within 8-12 hours), then you will need to resand before reclearing.
Yes, I would suggest waiting longer if you need to lay down more basecoat. The reducer and basecoat seems to be more aggressive than clearcoat, so it might wrinkle the original clearcoat.
thanks for the responses guys, wow, what a load off my shoulders, i screwed up on my first attempt. i sprayed the base way to thick, some kind of a vapor lock, this time the metal flake black came out GREAT!
