Help-sanded through basecoat

As you can tell, I'm a beginner. Painted the car with Chev silver blue poly then clear coated it. Used Omni paint. Had some runs in the clear, so in attempting to sand them down I cut into and through the base to the primer. I sanded the spot with 600 and tryed to put more base coat on. It blistered around the sanded area. Whats the best way to deal with this. And I'm finding out that metalic doesn't blend well. Is there a trick to applying it to get a consitent color or should I give up and go to a solid color. My base coat was pretty smooth but I had the areas where there is more blue than silver. I'm thinking metalic is beyond my skill level. Thanks

I had the same problem on a tank with hok silver underneath and omni clear on top. I waited a day to let the clear harden up a bit and then used the silver mixed in intercoat to get the blend right. It came out fine but took some work. metallics are tough. I had the advantage of the spot being on the front behind the handle bars so it wasn't really visible. wait for EZ or Rex to chime in I'm sure they'll have a good idea of how to fix it.

Big bummer man.Kustom has it for blending.Your wrinkling problem can only be cured by sanding out the wrinkle and feather the edges out and prime it up.Don't pound the primer on or it'll wrinkle it too.Block that out to level out the flaw and reprime it.Sand it just enough to knock off the top to leave 2 coats covering the area. These hi metallic colors can be tough to blend. What you have to do is put more base color over the repair and step each coat out past the last. You have to pick your reducer wisely because if it dries too fast the metalic will stand up around the edge of your spot and halo.If the blend edge looks mottled using color and interclear mixed 1-1 helps the color blend out into the existing color. The blue and silver you talked about is mottle by the sounds of it.It's caused by the paint being put on too heavy and/or drying too fast or put on unevenly.Usually it's heavy and drying.
