Help with Acrylic

I've been painting about ten years now and have only sprayed acrylic enamel four or five time. I always use bc/cc. My problem is I have a 84 c10 someone painted with acrylic and I'm wanting to put a set of flames on it. Could I spray the flames bc/cc or would it eat the acrylic underneath and wrinkle the flames.

You should be fine, but I would suggest using a fast reducer. A medium or slow might eat into the enamel. Also go slightly lighter coats than normal.
Sand the current paint with 1000 grit wet (you can start with 600 grit DA if you wish - only sand the panels you will be adding the flames to). You may have an issue if your single stage paint is a metallic though.
Mask off the panels you will be painting.
Layout your flames and mask them off.
Spray your flames with the base.
remove all flame tape and mask.
Clearcoat the panels you had masked off.

You may want to do a 'test' just to make sure you don't have a problem though.
