HOK 2 Color Marbleizer

Question for anyone that has used the 2 color Marbleizer from HOk.

I purchased a quart of Gold/Blue.
Now on the Color chart and on the back of the can it states "First color is for Black base and Second is for White base"

I shot a test panel with bc25 and bc26. The Black came out definitely GOLD but the White was a Baby Blue\gold pearl....Almost transparent.
My question....Is this correct or did I do something wrong....Or am I totally out to lunch

I know...Most of you probably buy the clear and mix. I was going to try to fade my base from black to white and Marbleize with Gold/Blue to try something new.

Yeah, that's just how it looks. Any marblizer will look lighter over white. Just like when you put a pearl over white. It's unfortunate you purchased a quart of the color since there's enough to do about a million bikes.
If you're going to experiment with a new color or effect, I'd always buy a smaller quantity from an after market source. You'll not only save money but the hassle of having so much left over filling up your cabinets.

DDG....I understand about lighter base=lighter marble. But why would they even print that on the can and color chart

. You would think they would just call it Gold and say lighter base will effect outcome.

Oh Well .....live and learn...if that don't work scrape it down and start again !!!

Maybe when they developed these colors they found out that on the lighter bases the color outcome was different. Perhaps it was a surprise to them as well, I don't know. Some look the same over white vs. black.
They may have put it on there as a "warning"
to tell you the outcome will be different.
It may look like a differ color but will still show the characteristics of the original color.
You could always call their tech line and ask them, if they can't tell you then it is a mystery to you, me and the rest of the painting world.
Sorry, Dirt

I sprayed the gold tonight and I got to say....It look Damn good.

I am thinking of adding some airbrushed Ghost flames (black) and cover with purple Kandy.

How does that sound ...Any Idea ?

Thanks
