HOK catalyst and PPG 2021 ???

Hi folks,
A problem here. I shot some HOK kandy and only had enough HOK clear to cover it with one coat.
I have a quart of PPG 2021 but no catalyst.
Can I use the HOK catalyst with PPG 2021 without any problems?
I'm stuck here cuz nobody near has the HOK clear or the PPG catalyst.
Thanks,
Phil

I wouldn't. I've sprayed HoK kandy then put PPG clear over it, but I still wouldn't swap the hardeners. If you got one good coat on it after the kandy, you should be good to let it dry then lightly scuff and clear when you get your supplies (either brand).

Hi Austin,
For what it's worth - I didn't get any answers within my window so I went ahead and used the HOK catalyst with the PPG 2021 clear, mixing 4:1 and it kicked in the clear just fine!
Now, consider a pint of PPG catalyst cost about the same as a quart of HOK catalyst, and I used it 4:1, not 2:1 like HOK calls for. If the PPG catalyst works, and it sure does, then there's a big savings in catalyst!
I WILL keep using the HOK catalyst with my PPG 2021 cuz it kicked it in fine, it set up a little faster than usual, and it flowed out beautifully, as the PPG 2021 always does.
Just food for thought, it's more economical and works great!

I meant to say " If the HOK catalyst works, and it sure does, then there's a big savings in catalyst!"

HOK and PPG are compatible, whether clear to clear or catalyst to clear .... works all around.

Glad to hear you didn't have problems, I would still just buy the HOK if your looking to save some money. If you have a problem down the road they will be more likely to help you out if your not intermixing products.
just my opinion. spray on!
