HOK Hardeners

Anyone know if you can use HOK KU-100 in the UC-35?
I heard that the only differnce between KU-100 and KU-150 is that one of them is a compliant hardener?!?
Thanks...

Hey Scott,
I found this out for you. As quoted on HOK website.

"KU-100 is for use in only Kosmic Klear UC-1, UK Kosmic Kandys, and UB Kosmic Urethane Enamels. KU-100 must be mixed with the products having UC-1, UK, and UB codes before use. CAUTION: Not to be mixed with any other product codes.

Hope this helps.

When I first started to use UC-35, the paint shop where I got it gave me KU-100 for it for months and it always worked and seem like there were no issues with the clear.

I was reading the tech a few months ago and noticed it said KU-150 is suppose to be used, so I switched. I've just noticed a slightly better flow out with KU-150.

Thanks for all the posts guys (especially from Joe...someone who has done this) /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek_yello.gif. I'm desperate on this one job, so I may go ahead and go with the KU-100 like Joe says. Usually these things work out if they are the same brand name products. HOK is probably saying *not* to since it was not tested or not good for longevity. Well...on a the bike I'm doing, it definitely won't see too much sun or weathering.
Another reason I am going ahead and doing this...HOK says to spray the UC-35 with the UK-150 directly and immediately over a KU candy job with UK-100 mix, so ultimately they are mixed and combined since they stacked on top of one another.

I'll let you know the outcome next week. I will be clearing tomorrow (Sunday).
The only reason I am doing this is my bc/cc painter forgot to let me know we were low on KU-150.

Gotta candy frame, front fender, and 36'stretch tank to reclear tomorrow. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek_yello.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek_yello.gif

UC-35 is the compliant version of UC-1 so you should have no problem.

I put the flow coats to my tank this afternoon (I use UC-1 being in Canada) and it came out awesome. Tomorrow is buffing and then this paint job is done.

Since we are on clears, how long should I wait before waxing after the clear has been polished?

Well, I used the KU-100, and it worked just fine. Dried with no problem and about the same rate as the KU-150 would.
And like Bornhard said, I think it flowed out a little better than the KU-150
