I am spraying a 280Z in factory original Metallic Gold (no jambs). I want to spray HOK Metaljuls Pegan Gold on my last coat. this stuff is too expensive for the budget on this car. Can I mix 4oz of the Metaljuls in the first coat of clear or does it have to go on before the clear. I am hoping to get the painte effect with only 4 oz. I have used Metaljuls before, but as a topcoat before clear.

I wouldnt have thought you'd be able to mix it with your clear to give the same effect, I've only ever used it before lacquer too

The metajuls I've used are basecoats. So you really shouldn't mix a basecoat with topcoat. Don't think I would chance it. OR, just get your 4 ounces and mix it with SG-100, reduce it, then spray it. THEN spray your topcoat clear.

Like thirdstreettito said, I don't think 4 oz would be enough, especially putting a gold over a gold.

Alsa makes some products that are made to be added into clearcoat, like Candy Concentrates I believe. Contact them and see if they can help.
