hok mid coat

after spraying basecoat tech sheet says spray midcoat for art work do you sand this midcoat before taping off flames? thanks

Not necessary ... but the smoother the surface you start with the less sanding and less orange peel you'll have for your final top coat clear. We usually hit the intercoats lightly with 2000+ grip paper to knock it down.

It Should Be Noted That Some Guys Dont Use A Mid Coat.it All Depends On How Soon You Are Going To Clear Coat And How Complicated You Job Is Going To Be.a Simple Flame Job For Instance.cyas

but on a simple flame job, it always seems that i have a spot where the tape wasn't down all the way. if i have a mid coat as protection i can sand that flaw away w/o complicated touch ups, like on pearls or flakes for instance.

i will pretty much always do a mid coat if the base is a pain to touch up. just insurance. ;)
