HOK Paint Concern

Hello everyone. I've been painting custom cars and bikes for about 5 years now, and need some advice. I just finished a 2015 CanAm Spyder using the true fire paint system from TCP Global and now I have a problem. The true fire was painted over correctly prepped factory paint then cleared with 3 coats of HOK UC35, wet sanded and sprayed with 3 more coats of UC35. I wet sanded and buffed, everything was perfect. I sat the bike out in the sun for a couple hours, and when I pulled it back inside and it cooled down, there were hundreds of tiny pinholes in the clear, BUT ONLY where the Kandy colors are. Nowhere else, only in the Kandys. I re wet sanded and buffed a small part...looked amazing, put back in sun...same thing. Does anyone have an idea of whats going on? It seems to be occurring mainly in the chrome yellow and pagan gold kandy. any input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

The first thing that comes to mind would be 'solvent pop'.
Possibly due to the build up of all the base, and the double coats of clear.
You 'might' be able to sand these out, but really, your best but would be to really sand it down good. Probably 600 grit DA, then 1000 wetsand, then reclear.

Your first coat of clear on the reclear may look strange as you may still be filling some of the tiny pits.

Be very careful not to go through the clear. Sounds like you have quite a bit on there.

With tru fire, there really isn't a need to reclear twice. One clearing should have been plenty (3-4 coats)

Again, I'm not positive on what it is, but I really can't think of anything else it would be

Thanks for the reply Taz. I figured solvent pop as well, but like I said, its only where the Kandy's are and where the yellow is. None in the reds and oranges. I applied the true fire with a airbrush and allowed plenty of flash time in between layers, so I don't how much solvent would be trapped there, unless it is strictly in the clear. Like I said, I've only been painting for 5 years, but I haven't ran across this before. Very frustrating. So if I sand down to 600 and 1000 and reclear, and it shows again, what are my options? Sand down to factory base and start over?

Just my thoughts here... Lightly sand the whole thing, opening the paint so trapped solvent can get out. Put the trike in the sun for a few days, further helping the solvent to evaporate. Then final sand and re-clear.

Thanks for reply BeoBob. It seems we are all in agreement that it must be some type of solvent issue. So I will open it up and and let it bake. Thankfully this spyder is a good friend of mine and not in a hurry for his bike. Thanks guys.

I think you'll be all right with the reclear.
Again, we're saying this without seeing it, but normally it's okay with the reclear.
