Can anyone tell me what the difference is between Kandy Base coat, Urethane Kandy and Kandy Concentrate? Which one would you recommend or feel is better or looks the best?

I'll try and give it a whirl!!

Kandy / Urethane - This is the stuff that started it all!! It basiclly a topcoat clear with a tint / color in it. Looks just like Cool-Aid when mixed, It must be mixed with KU-100 Catylst and reducer RU-310,311 or 312. Mix ratio is 2:1:1 respectively. Spray with up to a 75% overlap pattern "wet" over the recommended base coat - wait to flash before applying next coat. HOK Recommends 5-6 coats to achieve color swatch match.

Ups: Nothing beats a Kandy paint job. The depth of color will never be attained with other brands or imitations. Even a single color job with no grafix will look great!

Downs: For use with grafix can leave a huge "tape edge" that can take multiple coats of clear to bury.

Kandy Base: This is HOK's cheap imitation to the real stuff. Supposed to imitate a kandy effect without the cost and multiple items needed for the urethane kandies. I've never used it myself but I think it gets mixed the same as their base coats. 2:1 with an RU Reducer.

Ups: Since I've never used it the only ups I can foresee would be cost and ease of use. Would probably work as good as any of HOK's base coats for grafix leaving a minimal edge.

Downs: It will never be a "real" kandy and will not posses the depth of a urethane kandy. Although I think the swatches look pretty impresive and better than the HOK Pearl Bases.

Kandy Koncentrate: This is just the "tint" HOK uses in the kandies. Usually you add it to SG-100 for a super concentrated tint color that you want to mimic a kandy. It still needs a base underneath it.

Ups: Great for grafix and custom jobs. Leaves very minimal tape edge when used properly. Thousands of Color combos.

Downs: You can "opps" with this stuff real easy, too much/not enough mixed with clear can really screw your job and not to mention your brain up!!

Bones pretty much nailed it. Real kandy is a bit difficult for the novice painter. Practice before shooting your parts.
Bones, you forgot:
Side effects may include headaches, nausea, diahrea, vomiting, cramping, and heart-kidney-liver problems.

Don't forget laying on the grass for over two hours because all the hairs in your lungs were plugged and you could not breath unless you were on your back. Thinking you were gonna DIE!

When I talked to HOK at their booth recently, they said the kandy base coats would give the same depth as the true kandys. The main differance was with the base coat version you could only put on 4 coats max, then would have to clear, sand and apply more if you wanted it deeper.
