I have read and heard alot of people talk about HOK paints, what makes them so great? do they flow better, better colors, price. I am really new to solvent based paints and have dabbled with PPG and dupont, and I am just curious what the biggest difference is? where would be a good place to buy HOK also.

The big advantage to HOK is that it can handle the thickness of custom paint.Auto paint likes to check or crack when it gets up around 3 paintjobs worth, where HOK wont.

I agree with Rex (for once he said something smart) /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eekout.gif
I use HOK for several reasons:
1. Kandy's
2. Flakes
3. High solid graphic colors
4. fully compatable pinstriping paint
5. CHEAPER
6. Great clear coats (great shine, easy to buff, no solvent pop like that crappy PPG 2021 that rex uses....hehehe)
7. Great techical support, call 'em one day and ask them some questions.
8. Ever since that freak campfire marshmellow burning incident, I've been unable to return to my local paint store.

Thats just some of my reasons. Hope it helps.

CHeaper? No solvent pop? man this sounds like my type of product. haha. I alwasy thought it was real expensive (from what ive heard) Which of their clears is most popular and where can I purchase it online? also can you get HOK colors in basic colors without the shimmer, mettalic & pearls?

Give them a call (601) 798-4229 and ask for a info packet. Read the tech manual and see what you think.
www.coastairbrush.com is a good place to get smaller quanities, but www.autobodydepot.net is the one of the best prices you'll find.
UC-35 is the most popular clear, followed by UFC-35 (UFC-35 has a higher gloss, but not as chip resistant than the UC-35)
Yes, you can get basic colors without the mettalics, flakes, and pearls.
Give 'em a shot, I think you'll be happy!

No Rex, I don't work for HOK.
