Has anyone used Hotrod black before? I am going to paint my truck with it and was hoping one of you guys has used it. I know it's single stage, but do I cut and buff it? What about waxing it? Thanks guys, every time I have a problem you guys help me.

Flat black

Been away for awhile and I am glad to see the Flames Board is up and doing well. Go to TCGLOBAL.COM and you will see "Hot Rod Flatz" paint. They have all kinds of colors and a clear that you can spray over any base coat to get that flat look. I have a guy that wants his bike painted flat black so I am going to try it for the first time myself. I have the same questions you have about it also. How to I get the trash out of it? Do you sand and buff it or just sand it?

Yeah, it's my truck so however it comes out, I can just say "did that on purpose".

It's a base coat with a flatting agent already in it. This way you get the same flattness every time. They take some of the work out of it by mixing it together for you. You can get a flatting agent for your clear and mix your own if you like. I've done that before.

I'm working on a flat job right now and just am going to use HOK colors and clears, then add the flattening agent to the UC-35 Kosmic Klear. Final coat will be a flow coat, because the more you sand / buff on a flat surface the more satin to smooth color you'll get.
