How clean is clean?

Hey Guys-

I posted a while back about removing the sticker off a plastic rear fender. Well I used a hair dryer along with some Goo Gone and I've got everything off that I can. The trouble is you can still see where the sticker was. It looks like adhesive is still on the fender but I absolutely cannot get anything else off. It's a smooth as a baby's bootm. I just worry that if I start sanding it's going to cause problems. Not sure if the adhesive just left these marks in the paint or if there's still adhesive i need to remove. Any suggestions/recommendations?

I've got to get things going, it's in the low 70s here today and my bike is in pieces!

Does it feel sticky or is it just like the rest of the paint?
If it's sticky or you run your fingers over it and it is noticeably different from the rest of the paint you still have some adhesive. If not then start with a little wetsanding. As long as it doesn't ball up then you should be good to go.

The sun could have faded the rest of the plastic, except for where your sticker was. Could that be it?

If you don't look at it and just run your finger over it you'd think it was a new fender. I'll try a bit of wet sanding and go from there.

Thanks for the advice-Stretch

That's kind of normal if the decal was there for a while. The paint gets slightly eroded away over time and the decal or emblem protects that spot.It isn't something you can normally feel an edge on but if you don't sand it it'll still be there.Alot of times on a blend panel I can't really sand flat(like those damn 3 stage colors) I can see a faint outline of the emblem or decal if you get down and look across the panel. Most people can't see this stuff but if you know how to look at a finish you'll find it if you know where it was or look hard enough.
