Hope you don't mind me borrowing this pic Scott.

How exactly would I achieve this look?

I have no idea but I'll guess and see if I'm close. I'd go basecoat black, do the ghost flames in silver or gold pearl and then use an orange candy over the whole thing? Just a guess.

I have the base coat on my truck already which is a suede black. I just need to know how the flames are shot with having such drastic light and dark areas. These are some BADAZZ flames and would like to do something similar on my 67

I'd use an airbrush when you paint on the gold or silver base for the ghost flames. Just paint right on the tape edge so only half the spray is in the mask. You should be able to get that high contrast since you're only going to be putting paint right on the edge.

I'm guessing it's a black metallic base with the edge of the flames brushed with silver or gold, then candied over with tangerine.

Is the lightest parts of the flames the actual paint color - Candy Tangerine?? and the darker areas of the flames overspray from the base coat?

Great looking paint!

Thanks

The lightest part of the flames are achieved by painting the gold or silver onto the dark base using an airbrush in the masked off flames. The tangerine candy turns the gold/silver flames to the orange color you see. Does that make sense?
