How long to wait before color sanding...

Just curious, how long should you wait before color sanding? I've been told that you should color sand as soon as possible, 6-12 hours after the clear has hardened to make the process easier. Then again I've hear that you should wait several weeks.

What's the general consensus?

For me personally, between clear sessions, anywhere from when it dries (3 hours) to the next day.
And for buffing, usually the next day to 4 days later.

That was pretty definitive eh?I have to agree though depending on the circumstances.I'll let the clear sit a day before sanding and buffing to make it easier but you have to remember it takes the stuff about 30 days or so to cure. What looks good sanded and buffed 2 days after will shrink up and show flaws after it cures.I prefer to let it sit a week and sand it down and reclear it.Then let it sit a few weeks before blocking and buffing. It may buff harder but once it's cured out it's less likely to shrink up.

I usually go a week after the final clear. If it's a rush job at least wait two days. If I have to I let the guy take it and bring it back after a week or so to do the buffing but then you have the added problems of working around the rest of the bike.

Thank you for all the input...

I just now noticed that I wasn't supposed to ask questions in this forum (sorry about that).

Thanks again,
