Have you looked at Scotts...How To Section ? I believe he has a page on how to build a paint rack out of Saw Feed Rollers.
Another one that I use is 1/2 inch Black Iron Pipe (Gas). You can build a base out of wood then select your fitting from your nearest Lowe's or Home depot. They have so many fittings and lengths that you can build to suite your metal.....Tip ...The "T" and the cross "+" fittings work Great for attaching split tanks.
Great thing about 1/2 pipe is that you can take it apart and change it for your next project.
Measure from top front mount to bottom front mount on your tank.
Place the T on top. then the proper length of pipe in between the T and the +, Then another length below the + for mounting onto your stand. (make sure you take into consideration the 1/2 inch you will lose for threading the pipe together when you make your selection)
Attach you tank to both side of the T and + using a long bolt.
