how to paint carbon fiber look

hello. my name is tom and i just found this forum. makes for some good reading.LOL. ive been an automotive painter for 20 years, dont do too much custom stuff, except on my own rides. anyways, i have been searching for months now on how to use paint to make something look carbon fiber. i have seen some examples, but no explaniation on how the look was achived. any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks again

you shoot down a silver or charcoal color. then use either drywall tape, or the coragated stuff that you put on the bottom of your house hold cabnets you can get it at wally world. anyway you wrap this stuff around it, shoot a black or whatever color you want over that, then take off the tape, and cover it in whatever color candy you want your fiber to look like.

people use different colors for the bases, you just have to play w/ it.

really, its that easy. i was sure that it was going to be some exhausting process. thanks for the info, i will give it a try
