How translucent is KBC

I know KBC is less translucent than UK, but because this is my first ever paint job I have decided to definitely go with KBC. However, I still want to use metal flake under the KBC but I am wondering how well it will show under it. I am also wondering if the basecoat color is less important under KBC as it would be under UK?

This is my plan:
HOK Solar Gold Fine Metallic
Mini Gold Flakes
Intercoat
HOK Pagan Gold KBC and Root Beer KBC
Clear Coat

How much do you think the Basecoat and Flakes are going to show through?

THANKS!

I really don't know, never did it like that, I think you have to do a test panel to see if the metallic will show through. I have a feeling, if you do 3 coats of KBC, you might not see it.
With REAL Candy, (UK or similar) the base is ALL important. The Candy is a tinted clear, you can see right through it, just in a different color. You can do artwork by putting slightly darker, or lighter versions of your metallic base, and you will still see then 100% under 3-8 coats of Candy. KBC has color solids, and pearl flakes in it so they are not very transparent at all.

I agree, you 'may' see them. You'll probably see them better out in the sun, then inside with limited lighting.
but it does sound like you are planning on putting one candy on, then another on top of that? Or are you mixing the two candies?
Do a test panel and see what you think.

I can't stress the importance of doing test panels! Even if I know exactly what combination I want to do on a car, say Candy Brandywine, over Orion Silver, I still do tests. You can vary the color greatly by the number of coats you do, even how fast, or slow, close or far your passes are. And if the color is not exactly the way you like, you can vary the darkness of the base, or even tint it, or decide to use a different color base to make the final color warmer, blue-er, redder, browner, golder, etc.

X2 on that.
Especially adding the flakes, using KBC, mixing the candies together and not seeing a color chip to begin with.

A test panel always gives you a good idea of what you'll end up with. Just be sure and duplicate everything when doing the real deal
