I saw where they did this on guitars. Looked pretty cool. I forget the name of it but looked like a lot of work

nope, dont wanna dip, although might be cool for some items. I saw a truck done like tie dye and was curious if there was a certain airbrush trick. I can see how I would do it after looking at the truck but what do I know.
I am doing a small chopper tank, lettering it across the top with " Trippin' " and wanted the inside of the letters (bigger rounded 70's flowing letters style) to be tie dye.
guess Ill figure it out.

Ahhhh, then what you need to do is research the painter that Rick Fairless uses. He my even paint them himself, I don't know. But there sure isn't much info online on how to do it. You may be on to something there.

TieDye.jpgI did a guitar for one of my friends, way back when. He wanted it to match his favorite T shirt, so I had a pattern to duplicate. I decided to use Pearls for the paint, so it had a softer finish than fully glossy paint. I mixed up some colors to match the shirt, as most were pastels, and freehand airbrushed the patterns onto the guitar. Not difficult, but time consuming.

Actually, it was called a 'swirl' for a guitar. And yes, I forgot they dip it so that wouldn't work. Sure like the look though.
