Hi All,

New to the forum from the Northwest.... Rain City.

I started out as a painter's helper at Heiser Truck Body here in Seattle back in '76. During the '80s worked for Maaco and an outfit called Boss Auto in California, then later a Buick/Olds dealer in Boston. I've been horsing around (off and on) with everything from dents to detailing ever since. Ive got the advantage of having a brother with a body shop out north of the city. He's usually more than happy to trade labor for shop time when I have a project to do.

The time has come to repaint my old Shovelhead and so I collected a spare tank and fenders. I don't want to rush a paint job, and I don't want any down time in the summer. :haha:

I was searching info on airbrushing techniques when I ran across this site. I did a couple of mural jobs on bikes way back when. Murals are pretty much out of fashion these days, but I've seem some airbrush work lately that I realy liked....so I figued I'd dust of my ol' airbrush and put back in service. I was thinking of ghost flames maybe. Another one I thought was REALLY cool was painted with seams and rivets. The guy even did a knock off of old WWII aircraft nose art on his tanks.

Anyway, I was mighty glad to find this forum. I'm a member of Harley and Chevy forums that have been both helpful and fun, so I'm looking forward to being here. Cheers

Here are a few pix of a job I'm just finishing up. These are spare tins for my Shovelhead.

As soon as I get these installed I'll be getting to work on the tank and fenders I'm running on there now.

I haven't desided how I'll be painting the other set. I like those 3d torn flag jobs, but I may just keep it simple with one color and striping.
