I\'m Cracked

Can anyone tell me what is the best way to fix deep key marks on a paint job. I don't want to sand everything down to the metal. The scratches are deep and I thought I could just glaze the gouges but the paint checked when I tried this. I now have to sand out the checkered paint to the metal and level to the rest of the paint. It's a good thing I only had done the hood. And yes I primed the base before I Glazed.

The best way is to feather it out and prime and block it.A 1/2 ***** way would be to feather out the top 1/2 of it then fill it with putty. If you just scrape putty into a sharp edged flaw like chips or scratches the edge will almost always show.If you fill them and leave a slight high spot over the edge that's semitransparent it'll hide the sharp edge for a while but eventually it seems to show, and you have to make the high spot fairly large to avoid seeing a bump at that spot.If oyu're using a 2 part putty it's best not to prime it first, just degrease it and spread the putty. After it's sanded down prime it.
