Inlet Pressure

I have a cheapie astro HVLP with the regulator on it. I read somewhere that I need 2.2 psi on the gun regulator (I am assuming this makes 10 psi at the cap? How can that be?)
What should my inlet pressure be? Logic would dictate anything over 10 psi (or 2.2?) would suffice, but somehow I don't think that is the right answer.
I'm confused,
Can anyone clue me in?
Thanks,
Mike

I don't use an HVLP but,There's been alot of posts on the subject. You may want to do a search of past posts.Seems to me the lower number is always "at the cap"Even HVLP,I never heard of anyone spraying under 25-30 PSI at the regulator. Maybe someone out there with access to a cap gauge could give use some numbers between inlet and cap pressures as a guide.REX....EZ....SCOTT ?

That's definately not right, that might be the metric system. You should be somewhere around 35-45lbs to make that 10 but without an aircap guage you'll never know and they are expensive.Do a search on gun setup and you can get around the guage by adjusting for the smallest paint droplets. There's been quite a few posts on the subject quite a while ago.
