I just found this website a few weeks ago, though there are sever others that focus on automotive painting and bodywork that I look at every day and have for years. I also regularly visit some Motorcycle and Automobile enthusiast websites that have sections for painting. Let me tell you all something - this is a very good website. You don't see any petty bickering here, you don't see any self-proclaimed experts pontificating from on high. What you do see are thoughtful answers to questions that sometimes are nearly indecipherable. So it suprises me to see how few postings show up here.
Now I know that painting a car or motorcycle isn't exactly brain surgery. I once read that "anybody can paint" and to be honest with you I don't think that's too far off the mark. A piece needs to be added to it though, that is 'anybody can paint' if they are at least told how to do it right first. On one very good website there is a fellow who posts regularly who has in his signature line something like this: "There is no one right way to paint a car, but there are a whole lot of wrong ways." Wiser words are seldom said. That's why websites like this are so valuable. Every paint job is different and while the general plan might be the same for one as another it is the peculiar little things that pop up during every job that makes questions of 'what do I do next' questions from learning painters inevitable. So it follows that websites like this, where good information is quickly available, are a mighty good thing to have. Its just a bit surprising not to see more people take advantage of it.
