iwata spray guns?

I've been using my Sata NR95 and 2000 for all these years, been thinking about trying an Iwata 400 LPH next. The descriptions and numbers for guns are a bit confusing, though. I almost bought a LPH/LVC/LVX gun on ebay, but it was a 1.5 tip. wasn't sure what the application was for...I believe the LVC meant for clearcoat, but I haven't heard anything about using a 1.5 tip, most are 1.3 and 1.4. Also, do I really need a different cap set for base vs. clear? I do a LOT of custom paint, like candy and pearl. Would one cap set work for both? or really need 2...and what tip size and "color" cap would I need to do these paints?
Man, to just be able to return to the old Devilbiss days.......much simpler!

I agree with you. I'd love to go back to the old siphon fed days when there was only a few good guns to choose from.

I use the LPH-400 and I like it. I have a 1.3 and a 1.4. I like less fluid coming out with the basecoat, and more fluid for the clearcoat. I think a 1.5 is too big. I think my Sata gun has a 1.5 which I use for primer.
I'm sure you could go with just the one gun and one setup...not for sure which I'd choose. Probably a 1.3. You may want to buy a gun with two setups so you can try both and see which one you like as an all around setup

Finally picked up a LPH 400 for clear, on Ebay. Can't wait to try it out.

You'll love it!!!
I use a 1.3 for base and 1.4 for clear

Even though I have SATAs, I really don't like the way the handle feels when spraying.
