Hi guys.
This may be a little off from the usual subject, but if there's anybody out there who can help me, I'd sure appreciate it.

I'm going to be finishing up with school soon & I'm getting scared.
I work with metal (a little), clay, glass & wood. My main focus is in furniture design, but I draw them by hand, not by computer. And then I fabricate my designs on my own. It's cool , but I don't see very many job openings in the design field that don't require computer skills.

With the skills I listed, does anybody have any suggestions for what kind of job I could get?
I'm starting to wonder if I should just shoot for being a carpenter's apprentice or something.

Thanks for your help,
Lyndsey

I know a guy that does all of the woodworking when his company remodels old houses and does a lot of stuff in new construction homes too like the cabinets, handrails, stairs, and moldings. Might be something to look at.

What if you try to work in the local school district and try your custom stuff on your own? I'm sure that you could sell custom furniture! And with your schooling you may be able to be a shop teacher or something. Good luck!

Hey Lyndsey,

I noticed that you're from Virginia. Try checking out some places down here in High Point, NC - It's the furniture capital of the world! Lots of furniture designers and such in this area, and I'm sure someone could point you in the right direction, or possibly even offer you a job!
Do a Yahoo Yellow Pages search for "Furniture Designer" in High Point and Greensboro, NC.
Good luck!
