Has anyone here tried the HOK KK mixed with DBC500? I am comfortable with the ppg line, but the color choice is not as good as what HOK offers. I'm worried there would be compatiblity issues. Also, are the KK's liquid or powder?

Have you looked into Radiance by PPG. It is a dye used in PPG products (including DBC500). It is actually about the same thing as the HOK KK's. I've used the Radiance and been very satisfied.
HOK has a way better chip book, but the PPG Radiance colors are really nice. Check with a local jobber and see if they have a chip book you can look at.

I don't know about the compatibility issue,
but you can use PPG DT reducers to reduce the HOK products. They're non reactive reducers. That's what you need.

I have used the radiance and like it as well, I'm just looking for more color options. I've thought about just using SG100 over the DBC but then I need to buy another type of reducer, I guess I'm just trying to stick with one line. I've never shot SG100 over DBC, are there any compatibility issues?

I think SG100 and DBC500 are very similar but I'd stay within the same system, but the DT reducers are fine in HOK basecoats.HOK says not to use more than 4 coats of 100 and the only thing I can find for the 500 is if you use it as a lockdown clear to not use it if there are over 3 coats of base down-both are stating 4 coats but differently.
