Lacquer ?'s

My car was painted with "black lacquer" in 1994. I was told that "lacquer's" were not used or sold anymore. I have several chips and minor imperfections in my paint job. I would like to repair it as it is an overall great paint job. I was wondering if the paint now sold as "acrylic black lacquer" is compatible and would work well as a touch up and be able to color sand and buff it to like the old lacquer to blend in and look like it was never touched.

thank you,

Earle

I would think so. If you plan on panel painting the black, you just have to make sure you have the correct shade of black..
Or, if you only have some small chips, you can just fill them with some black (even an auto parts store enamel). Then let them dry, wetsand them and buff them.
The key here it to make sure you build the touch up higher than the rest of the paint. Then you need to wetsand it flat.
Of course this will only work if you have enough lacquer left on the paint job to buff on.
