laying a stripe

When i stripe my tank w/ my sword i can see the edge of the flame in the stripe. That really looks bad in the clear especially where there are corners.

How or where do you stripe at to loose the edge? I have been stripping it before i remove the flame mask, but i get a really tall edge to clear over, but this helps me w/ the edge problem.

You clear over the flames (you could use SG-100 intercoat clear), then gently sand the flame edge down flat and then stripe it. Then clear the whole thing again with a topcoat clear.
