heres my problem based a tank with hok black then laid down my flame pattern and sprayed down some silverbase and candied over that yellow, orange and red in the tips. i let the paint dry and as I pulled up the fine line in certain spots the paint that was on the tape kinda slid off and stuck to the black base i got most of it off but my question is how long should i let the paint dry before pulling the fine line. should i maybe scuff the tape with a grey scotch brite so that the paint will stick to it better. the job came out really good but not good enough because of these few small areas.

this may be more to do with paint build-up on they tape not so much the dryness of it.
remember that once you have acheived paint color coverage to stop applying it because once its covered its covered .

actually i should say that i used candy concentrate mixed with intercoat. and was very concerned with keeping a minimal tape edge so I doubt that was the problem. any other suggestions?

That happens sometimes,or it flips right over on what you just sprayed.I like to untape it as soon as I can but you have to be extremely careful. If this is uncomfortable try waiting a little longer.
