Light candy green flames on dark candy green

Someone tell me if this will work. I'm fairly new to flame jobs. I want to end up with light candy green flames on a dark candy bike. Do you think this will get the result I want? I was thinking it might be possible to spray the bike metallic silver. Then mask off the inside of the flames (cover the flames with tape) spray a medium candy green a couple of coats. Then pull the tape off the flames and hit it up with a couple more coats of the medium candy green. I'm trying to get a nice look with as little paint as possible because it is going to be the first time that I will spray flames myself. Do you think that I can get the effect I want? Will a few more coats of a candy paint make that much difference in the shade of it? (I've never shot candy either) Anyway, thanks for the help!

That'll work. The more coats of candy you shoot the darker it'll get, since candy is basically a tinted clear. Your idea sounds like a winner to me.

By the way Mike, you know where the postal training center is out on hwy 9? The last 5 years, I've spent around 16 weeks a year out there. I'm an Electronics Technician for the USPS.

You could also spray your silver base.
Then tape off your flames and spray a darker metallic around the flames. Unmask and candy as usual. The problem with doing it your way is when peeling off the masking you may not do it in time for the proper flash time. Plus you need to be super careful so it don't drop it back on the candy. And a nasty edge.
This way you have virtually no edge and can candy without interuption.
Good luck with what you choose to do,
