Losing the edge

This is more of a survey than anything. When you do your first clear over graphics thicker than a normal 2tone,do you do it in one shot or a few and reclear until it's level?I'm leary about using more than 3 coats of Concept in one shot, and after that only by 2s.

ON TRUCKS I'VE ALWAYS SHOT 2 COATS ,THEN FLATTENED THEN RECLEARED WITH ONLY 2 MORE.
IS CONCEPT PPG?
IF SO ,I USED IT AT A SHOP THAT I WAS WITH FOR 6 MONTHS AND DIDNT LIKE THE SOLVENT POPPING THAT IT CREATED.
AT THE SAME SHOP WE ALSO HAD GLASURIT 2K CLEAR AND I FOUND YOU COULD LOAD IT ON FAR HEAVIER AND IT JUST WOULDNT POP.
I GUESS IM JUST NOT A GREAT PPG FAN, BUT I FEEL THAT THEIR URETHANE TECHNOLOGY IS NOT QUITE UP THERE WITH THE LIKE OF GLASURIT[BASF]AND SIKKENS ETC.

Sorry bout that,it's PPG.The popping is why I don't go over 3 and once in a while if I get impatient I get a light pop.2 coats isn't enough to knock much of the edge down without the chance of it wrinkling on the line.I tend to agree PPG is a little behind the Euro paints, but it is pretty good stuff. They sat the Global line Scott uses is much better than Concept/DBC but I can't get it locally.Thanx for taking a breather to answer, you can go back to the fun now

FOR SOME REASON I ALWAYS THOUGHT PPG WAS EURO PAINT AND MADE IN BELGIUM ?
MAYBE NOT.
THE PPG I'VE USED HAS BEEN CALLED PPG GLOBAL .
I FOUND THE BASECOAT NOT TOO BAD BUT DIDNT LIKE THE URETHENES.

Rex , are you baking your clear? anything over two coats when you go to bake will pop,if your putting on more than 2 coats dont force dry. letting the parts air dry i can put on 4 - 5 with no popping. block out any edges and then reclear with about 3 coats. then wet sand and buff.

Hey Joe what's up.I let it air dry for 3 because I found that out the hard way.I did have the air dry pop slightly once but I think i pushed the flash time.I got nervous so I went back to 2 at a time.I'll have to try it since it works for you.Guess I should buy an egg timer since I forget to look at the clock alot.Thanx man.

Shaunboy,I really don't know where it's made.It wouldn't surprise me though. It amazes me how much harder it's getting to find stuff made here any more.Take care guys.
