Marbelizing

OK I had decided to shoot flames, but recently have seen some sweet marbelized paint jobs. What does it take to get the marbel effect? I am new to graphics and such. Thanx!

you need a can of HOK's marblizer. You typically spray it over a dark base color, then use saran wrap to get the marblized effect. You then need to clear over the marblizer with HOK SG100 (intercoat clear). Here's a tip: remove your tapeouts, and when you spray the SG100, do the entire piece. That helps reduce sharp edges on your tape lines. Then clear over the entire part with your topcoat clear to really smooth it out.

You need to lay down your base color, spray the your marbilizer and put some plastic on it while it is still wet,put a coat of sg-100 over it and then clearcoat it.

The marbilzer comes in several differant colors itself.Green/Blue for instance,it will be green over a black base and blue over a white base.

I just checked and there is a new "neutral" marbelizer that you can add flake or pearl to for custom applications. I think marbelized blue pearl flames /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/fire.gifon black would look nice!

scuff and clean the clear coat. Mask off the flames and spray with your color choice of marbilizer. Spray some SG-100 over where you marbilizer and let cure. Read the can on times. Then reclear....

thanks for the input...would it be better to pull the tape after marblizing and then inner clear the whole tank..seems inner clearing just the flames would build up the edge....thanks...pa

Yeah yeah yeah! unmask the flames and intercoat clear...sorry for leaving that out. Unless you like to feel the edge of your flames under the clear!

my bad

Would you remove the tape after it flashes then intercoat? Or completely dry, scuff and intercoat, then final clear? Can you use the uc 35 clear instead of sg100 or do you need the intercoat?(with ufc 35 for final).

The thing is you have to either spray SG-100 intercoat clear, or Adhereto over the Marbilizer. You can spot cover, or spray the whole piece. The materials in Marbilizer will not give a good bond to catalyzed clears. The Adhereto or SG-100 give that bond needed for your top coat clear.
