masking the flames???

im doing my first flame job and i was wondering what i should use to mask off my job? should i use masking tape, or is there a good paper that i can use after i lay my flames? if i use masking tape how do i keep my basecoat from lifting when i remove the tape? thanx /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shrug.gif

Use a 3M blue or green fineline tape to layout the flames,cover with 2 or 3 in masking tape,lightly cut the masking tape in the center of the fineline with a razor or exacto.don't push so hard that you cut through the fineline.

will i get adhesive all over from the 2 and 3" masking tape? and if so can i clean it with wax and grease remover? or do i use something else? thanx for the help

Not if you use a quality masking tape but,if you do,wax and greasew remover will take it off without hurting the paint,just wet a rag enough to take it off,don't soak it.
