Matching HOK colors to PPG

I've painted a motorcycle tank metallic green over white, and really like this color scheme. I'd like to use it on my Vw Bus. From PPG, half a pint of basecoat cost me about $20. A HOK metallic green, online is $28 a quart. I've done the math and that equates to $1.43/oz reduced PPG, compared to $0.72/oz of reduced HOK. The only fine metallic green base HOK sells is planet green, which is too dark for my taste. Can white be added to this color to lighten it up, or will that disturb the metallic? I'll post a picture of the tank, it's my first time so hopefully it will work.
Thanks,
Kyle

ITS KIND OF HARD TO TELL WITHOUT SEEING THE PPG COLOR. IF YOU ADD WHITE IT WILL PROBABLY MAKE IT MORE LIKE A MINT GREEN. IF YOU WANT IT MORE LIKE A LIME GREEN TRY THE LIME TIME PEARL OR IF YOU WANT TO TRY TO MIX YOUR OWN I WOULD TRY TO ADD EITHER YELLOW PAINT LIKE HOK LEMON YELLOW OR CHOME YELLOW. LEMON YELLOW WILL TEND TO MIX MORE OF A GREEN COLOR AND CHOME YELLOW WILL MAKE A MORE LIME COLOR. IF IT STILL IS TO DARK THEN ADD WHITE. JUST STAY AWAY FROM ANY YELLOW THAT HAS A ORANGISH HUE AS IT WILL MAKE MORE OF AN ARMY GREEN. I'VE ALSO HAD GREAT SUCCESS MIXING IN KANDY CONCENTRATES TO CHANGE COLORS. THEY WORK GREAT DUE TO THEIR TRANSPARENCY. THE ONLY OTHER RECOMMENDATION IS TO MIX THE COLORS SLOWLY(A LITTLE AT A TIME) BECAUSE THE CHANGE CAN HAPPEN WITH JUS A SMALL AMOUNT OF COLOR. HOPE THIS HELPS.

I didn't read all of the above, all caps makes my eys cross..........

Just remember to add dark to light, not light to dark, and do not mix PPG and HOK together.......

Thanks Kustom Paint Works, that was helpful.
Ludicrous Speed, I'm a bit confused. Why shouldn't a darker color be tinted by adding a light one? HOK only sells one metallic green, and it seems the only way to lighten it up would be to add a lighter color.
Thanks,
Kyle

He means to start with white and add the green to it. Pour enough white to make up the approximate volume you'll need for the job, then start adding small amounts of green. It takes just a little dab of dark to change the lighter colors, but it takes gobs of light paint to alter the dark ones. You'll end up with a half gallon of it if you start out with the green. Don't ask me how I know, 'cuz I won't tell.

Incidentally, I have a half gallon of light green paint...anyone want it? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/haha.gif
