ok, im new, dont laugh at me, but what is the difference between metal flake, and metallic paints?

good question...
metallics are very small pieces of metal that are mixed in with transparent toners to make up a "metallic color". Metallics come in liquid form.

Metal flakes are actual metal flakes that usually come in jar. You spray these over a base color.

There are also different sized metalflakes you can use. The bigger the flake, that harder it is to get a level surface.

ahh, ic. thats where i was confused. so metal flake is sprayed with the clear, just like pearl then?

Exactly.You can add it to the color but you lose the effect and end up with an expensive metallic color.
