Metal flake flames

I am gonna do a set of metal flake candy flames on top of a candy base...how hard is it gonna be to bury the flames in clear? With the flakes plus the candy I think it will build up kinda thick. Will the paint hold up this thick? I will be using HOK paint.
THANKS

Depends on the size of the flake. I find no problem clearing over the standard "F" series flake from HOK. I usually candy over them not add the flake to the candy), then clear over the candy.

I have a beautiful one coming up. I'm sure the pictures won't show it (flake jobs are hard to get good pics), but it is candy tangerine with a bright orange outline and candy orange flake flames. Should have pics up in the Samples of Work today (Wed), or tomorrow.

I meant the standard "F" flakes (F-14, F-20, F-22...)cover fine. I heard the bigger Kameleons are no longer being made...anyone else here this.

Thanks,
Scott

It will be the standard flakes.....I just didn't want a set of "raised flames" that was gonna take a ton of clear to bury. On a test piece I tried taping the flames and shooting them, masking them and then candying up to the edge but that edge kinda looked sloppy plus it gave the job sort of a flat look. Thanks for the help Scott.
