Mid coat use candy

Hey all. I'm working on a little chopper project and I want to try a multi panel paint scheme (fish scales, lace...u get the idea). I'm learning how to fine line (struggling i should say) and I have a question about mid coats. I've laid down my 3 coats of black base with 3 coats of silver flake mixed with clear and 4 coats of real clear. I let it sit for a few days then wet sanded dull with 600. Now I just started working on the tape lines for graphics but at this rate the tape is going to be on these parts for a few days maybe even a week. Is that ok? I thought about maybe just doing the tank and spraying a couple coats of mid clear over the graphics before moving to the fender and oil tank tape work. I'll be using candy concentrate with midcoat over some of the artwork anyway. How long can midcoat candy sit without clearing? It's just taking me awhile to get the hang of taping these lines out but I don't want to rush it.

The only advice I can give, is to read your tech sheets for the paint. It will tell you how long you have before you can topcoat safely. Different brands have different times. After the preferred window, you would have to sand, or scuff the midcoat, and that would ruin the candy that's in it. Although some painters I know get away with doing small graphics, one after another, and don't final clear for days. Large areas, I probably wouldn't take that chance.

Thanks ill check them out. I don't know how guys do those low rider style vehicles. There's no way they can do all that in 1 or 2 days. Wish I knew some tricks. I guess I could always clear it several times between layers but seems excessive. Thanks for the help.
