Mixing Dry Pearls???

In my experience with dry pearl powders, a little goes a long way. I have always had more effect when going over darker colors vs. lighter colors. You may want to add a little more if going over a light color. I like the powder pearls, they are an inexpensive way to add a lot to a custom paint job. However, they can be impossible to match for repair because you never know EXACTLY how much you added.

Is that 3ozs the bottle with the flip top on it?I cant remember how much the bottle holds. That bottle will make gallons of pearl though. Also did you get DBC(Deltron 2000 base) or the Universal DBU?I use the stick test when I mix it.Add just a little to the clear and stir it up good. Then step out in the sun or really good light and pull the stick and look at it,redunking it in a few times. What you see on the stick will be more concentrated than what you'll spray in 2 or 3 coats.Guessing I'd say1.5-2X stronger. When you think you like what you see spray a little on a test panel to check it.Then add more pearl or clear to adjust it.With a qt of clear I'd start with about 1/2 a level teaspoon and go from there but a full level spoon is probably no prob, just start off slow. It's hard for me to judge because I just pour it straight from the bottle.I try to always make more than I need for a job so I have some to fall back on for touchup or something for reference to make more.

Hello All-

I went to the paint store yesterday hoping to get the same Blue Pearl and Clearcoat that is used in the HOw-To section of this site. Unfortunately the Global line is a bit pricey for me so I got some PPG Deltron Intercoat Clear along with some Blue Pearl Powder. My question is how much powder do I put in the mix? Obviously it's personal preference, but I have no idea where to start. Can anyone give me a recommendation on amount of powder to add to a pint of clear? I purchased 3 oz.
