Assuming a base coat/clear coat finish, approximately how much base and clear is required to paint a motorcycle (tank, front and rear fenders)

I would say a pint of base ought to do it, as I had a quart and did my GS, which consists of tank, fender, side panels, the part around the tail light, and the part around the headlight, and had a ton left over. Enough to do a yamaha scooter and a lot of little parts on my race car.

A quart of clear, since you can't buy less, I don't think.

Here is a pic of the bike, so you can see what all I had to paint:

(I hope this is ok, I linked it from imagestation, if not, feel free to delete it)

Nope, the pic is cool(got you guys paranoid,eh?).Usually a pint is good but some poor hiding colors will need a little more.

LS, thats a good lookin old Suzi you got. One of my beloved bikes is a 77 GS750. I've got close to $600 tied up in it now. Most of the time I quote a quart of base but like Rex said, some of the poor hiding colors will require more. I usually use between a pint - quart. In the summer it usually takes quite a few pints to finish a job. Oh, I forget, 12 ouncers I mean. TC /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bigokay.gif
