Motorcycle fairing repair

I have a cracked motorcycle fairing (left side of a GSX-R) that I begin repairing today. So far, I have the crack (curved crack around 12-14 inches long) completely plastic welded. (I followed all the how-to articles I found.)
Right now the crack is relatively smooth, no major voids, bumps, or rough spots, etc.

My question is how good does the repair have to be finished before I apply filler, high build primer, etc. ?

its simple. just take it into a well lit area and look at the surface foe any waves or bumps.
degrease
then if needed but body filler and sand out with 320 grit.
degrease
sand down, tack cloth entire surface and primer.

hope that helps. let us know. im sure there'll be someone better suited to answer you question

Thanks, that definitely helps. The repair is going pretty good; worked on it some this evening.

Cool. Ya this is what I did when I dropped my bike.
Sanded everything with 220. Then where the rash and cracks where, I sanded with 40 grit about one inch in all directions. Put fiberglass and resin. Let dry and came back and sanded with 320. Cleans and degreased and but bondo body filler. Sanded with 320 again and clean and put on two coats of polyester primer.

I'm glad I was of some help
