Lots of mis-information about custom paints out there in the real world.
First....Candy paint is NOT a factory color, so there isn't a "code" for it. There are several companies that make cusotm paint, like HOuse of Kolor, Dupont Hot Hues, and PPG Vibrance. They all make versions of custom paint including candy.
True Candy Apple paint is a 3 stage process. First you lay down your base. Traditionally, it is usually gold or silver metallic, but also could have been pearl white, copper, bronze, or black. Nowadays, they make any number of color metallics to use as a base. The base color will affect the final outcome in tone, and darkness, but the final "color" will be the color of the second step, or Candy paint.
Candy is just a tinted clear. The color of the tint gives you the final color. It is VERY translucent, which means you can still see the metallic base under the layers of candy. The amount of costs of candy will determine the darkness of the color, BUT the more coats it has, the less you see the metallic-ness of the base. Brilliant Candy colors are often only 3-5 coats, so you get the maximum effects of the metallic base.
The final coating is pure clear, to protect the candy (both from UV, and from the sanding, buffing, polishing of the paint)
Now, as the Candy coats are very translucent, any mistake in spraying them will give you uneven color. Spray passes too close or too far will give you striping of the final color. Any slowing or speeding of the pass, or getting your spray gun too close of too far away from the surface, and you will also get blotching of the color. Not spraying at a 90* angle in any direction, will give you uneven finish.
Get what I'm saying....you need to really know HOW to spray candy, as well as have a really good spray gun, with great atomization, AND develop a perfect technique to lay donw a great Candy Apple paint job. Even really good bodyshop painters are probably going to screw up a candy job, if they aren't aware, or carefull of what they are spraying! I cannot tell you haw many candy jobs I've done over, even though a technically good painter did them. They were not aware of the special techniques and spray patterns needed to do candy right.
So if the shop is asking for a color code for Candy, I'd be VERY suspicious that they can do the job right!
As for colors, and paints, go to House of Kolor to see some. You should be able to get a color chart at your local bodyshop supply house as well, even if they don't carry HOK, they might have Dupont or PPG custom paint.
For the record, Pearl isn't candy, doesn't look anything like it. NOTHING looks as nice as a well done Candy job, even thoug some OEM finishes kind of look like them...even factory Tri-Coat, which is a "cheater" candy type finish...usually a color pearl base with the same color tinted clear (or candy if you wish) over it. It is easier to spray and get even, but it doesn't have the brilliant look of a Candy over a silver or gold flake base!

do you know the make, model and year of the car in the picture in yer post? i personally would find it hard to believe if this is factory, it is a candy or pearl paint job.
as for the mustag, searchin here

i didnt find any factory ford colors for 60's mustang that were close to that. but i do like that color.

To me, the blue car in the second picture is a pearl blue, not candy blue. The red one behind it, THAT looks like a candy red to me

Good description and info about candy paint ChopOlds.

I agree with LS that the second pic does not look like a candy job.
I believe neither one of them are a candy paint (they could be though).

BUT they could be.

About the closest I've seen to that would be a color called Blue Sunglo on about a 2005 Harley-Davidsion.
I'ts basically Chopper Blue (also a Harley color) with a brighter blue candy over it.
Also, Jetstream Blue is pretty close to those. This is also a tri-stage paint, but it's not a candy.

Just a suggestion....go to a local auto body shop supplier and pic out a blue that is very similar to this.
Choose a basecoat/clearcoat type paint. There are MANY blues that are close to what's in the pic.
It will be easier for the shop to paint, cheaper for you, and still get that blue that you want.

TomSteve has some good advice.
That looks like an excellent color. Very close to what you had in the pics. Best of all, that's probably a nice basecoat/clearcoat type paint.

If they need a paint code and you want candy, you are at the wrong shop. you will most likely severely regret it if they do paint it.
