I have very light blue ghosts over silver, tank only, now I want to accent flames with pinstripe , is it possible to do this without taking the bike apart again ? 2002 FXST

if you wanna do it right and reclear over the stripped flames i would disassemble the bike but if your not reclearing and dont mind feeling the stripe outline you can get away with doing it on the bike , i see strippers do this all the time at bike events, i even see some butchers reclear the sheet metal while its still on the bike, not advisable for a quality job.

Are the flames contrasted well with the silver?,I got the impression the flames are really ghosted. The flames on my scooter are 2 more coats of candy compared to the rest but if you sand or scuff the clear like you're going to add more paint you can barely see them in the right light, ain't no way I could follow the edge to stripe with the gloss gone.If yours are really faint lightly dull down the clear on like the front of the front fender with 2000 just enough to kill the gloss.A quick buff will bring it right back and it's easy to cover the bike.Don't do this if you don't know you have plenty of clear over that spot to test it.There is a way around this if you want to spray them on but you don't want to do it,you'll be crosseyed and throwing things in no time.

Thanks, the flames were done locally, just turned out to be a bit light in contrast to the silver. He did clearcoat over the whole thing again and I just want to add some narrow stripes to enhance the look. But..would rather not disassemble the bike again. It is only the tank.
