need advice please

I'm painting my 05 nighttrain, I wanted to do a pagan gold base, so I was thinking of using the kandy base coat pagan gold, then I want to do some gold flake, then I'm doing kandy apple red over that, then I'll do some graphics which I haven't really decided on yet. What I was wondering is, is it ok to use a kandy base coat with a urethane kandy over it, or should I use a shimrin base coat then do the flake and the kandy, and does anybody have some suggestions on graphics or flames? This is only my first real paint job, so any help is greatly appreciated. Thanx /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/newbie.gif

I would suggest using a coarser metallic like the Zenith gold basecoat. This way when you candy over it, you will see the coarser flake. You can use a finer metallic base though, as this will brighten the overall candy color. If you plan on adding some metalflake, you can do this between the metallic color and the candy color.
