Hi all, fairly new to using a spray gun, i have been playing around at home and painted my kitchen cupboard doors in a 2 pac, they came up a treat, pull the gun apart to give it a good clean, just did another small job yesterday in a 2 pac and the paint looked like it went on dry, is this the cause of not enough thinners? I was also thinking maybe the gun settings?? any advice of what i did wrong?

PS: great forum and have already picked up quite a few tips

Cheers

This would be very hard to tell without actually seeing how your gun settings are and how you are applying the paint.
First thing you might want to do is go to the other extreme and that would be turn the fluid nozzle open all the way and hold your gun about 6-8" away and spray. See if this lays the paint on wet. If not, most likely your gun is clogged, or not set up correctly.
Also, the problem could be that you have the paint too thin, OR you have too high of airpressure.
Most likely it's one of the above
Glad you like the forum!

yep I agree with Taz, sounds like what is known as dry spray. The air pressure maybe set too high or the paint being over reduced/thinned. Maybe a combination of both. Or as Taz said being too far away from the surface. This will cause the paint to partially dry before it hits the surface. If you are laying the paint on a little to heavy you may get orange peel, but your not getting that, right. Check your gun settings, but once you get it dialed in you'll know right away. Let us know what you come up with in the end. If still not right we'll go from there. We'll get it sorted out for you.
