Hey guys I'm finally finishing my flame job.
In review I made alot of mistakes. Most of them are due to a poor painting area and not being carefull enough. Hmm lets see... the base and the flames came out great. Then it kinda went down hill from there. first thing I'm' not sure why happened is on the front fender for some reason the yellow in the flame got a couple of small cracks in them, only in one small area. All of the paints were compatible. Then I poured the thinner over the tank that just came out great well that left some drk spots in the base. Then I was wet sanding the clearcoat on the back fender outside when a gust of wind came along and I watched it bouce doen the driveway. No dents just doug up the paint down to bare steel.
I also got alot of runs in the clear coat. I think I may have tryed to coat too heavy is the clearcoat suppose to look clear and deep after you shoot it , mine did in most places except for the runs on the tank and a few on the end of the fenders. I'm movineg in a couple of weeks and that place will have a 3 car garage
I'm going to build a booth and have seperaate places to store the work ,pour the paint ,and paint storage. I really enjoy painting and doing the flames and designs Several people saw them and loved them, one guy asked me to paint his bike but I think I'll wait till I Get the booth set-up. I'd like to thank everyone once again for all there help.. I think a soon as I move I'll buy some more tin and start all over again. Oh yea I also found that it's not a good idea to start clercoating your first project on the day you have a figght with your girlfrind and she announces she's moving out.
