Need suggestions on heating my "booth"

Need suggestions on heating my \"booth\"

I am getting ready to paint a complete car in my garage, but I have never painted an overall in the winter before. When priming or doing a jamb, I can heat the garage up with a salamander, spray it, run some fresh air through to clear out the vapors, and then re-heat it.

I don't see how I could possibly do this with a complete car. I really want to keep the heat going the whole time while I paint, as well as draw fresh air through.

I have been thinking about building a "room" outside the garage out of wood and plastic, running the heater in there and drawing fresh air from there to draw warm air into the garage.

Any other ideas??? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shrug.gif

Re: Need suggestions on heating my \"booth\"

I bought an attic (powered) fan and built a box that holds the filters. I then exhaust that outside with a dryer vent. Works really good. My garage is about 800 sq ft. and the fan is 1300 cu ft/min. so it keeps the overspray out, and by keeping the fan a foot of the floor it keeps my heat in and does not move to much dirt. It does look a little rigged........

If you are using a positive pressure booth your idea would be fine maybe even overkill if there is no way your exhaust is being recirculated thru your intake you could get an electric heater & place close to intake fan & it would draw the heat & blow into booththats how I rigged mine & hell it would get 95 degreese in booth when ambient temp was in low 50s /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ohwell.gif

How do those curing lamps work when you use a semi-down draft booth? Can you put them so they are "upwind"? Or do you have to move them all around the object to get the whole thing cured?
$620 is alot better than $5k! If they work in a draft booth I might try them out. Thanks for the info.

I have a salamander and i was thinking of building a box similar to a furnace, with ducts that blow through a filter and into my booth, do you see any problem with this? my main concern is the exposed flame of the salamander
