New Bike Question

I'm considering purchasing a BLACK Honda VTX 1300. I have yet to choose a painter but I have a pretty good idea of the design.

In order to do a fairly simple blue and purple flame design on black, can the design be placed on top of the original Honda black paint or does the bike have to be stripped to the metal?

Obviously, I'd prefer to keep costs reasonable. But I want a paint job that looks great and will last many years.

Magooster,
Spraying a flame job over the original paint is no problem. In fact it is best to do so.
All parts should be prepped for paint, then spray the flames, and then clear the complete parts.
All parts should be wetsanded, buffed and polished so you cannot feel any flame edge
This will give a nice factory look. Working around the factory decals is no problem as well.

Not for sure if we have written you an estimate. If not, feel free to fill out the estimate form, and we will give you a price quote on doing this job.

We are also very close to you (Pinellas Park)

Talk to Scott,he'll fix you up.Try to stay away from the average collision shop, they don't always understand the extra requirements bikers expect. If you want to keep the factoy decals, have them prep and clear them in too if you don't use Scott.I've seen them taped off before and ruined an otherwise nice job.
