Hello everyone! I just found this site and been searching around for an answer for my problem with no real luck yet. I'm trying to paint my motorcycle in my diy booth. The paint is hok Orion silver with galaxy grey/charcoal for racing stripes and knee dents. The shop told me to tape right over the silver and spray the charcoal, then clear and buff. I picked up a roll of green 3m tape and it seems really tacky for fresh paint. Am I being parnoid? Also I see people using an interclear between coats which raised the next do I need this if so can my regular clear?

Welcome,

I would suggest using some 'fineline' to layout you stripes. Then fill in where you don't want painted with the green tape you bought along with masking paper.
You should be fine...BUT be sure and let the paint dry for a couple hours or so. I noticed you said 'fresh paint'. But didn't mention how long you planned on letting it dry.
As far as the interclear, you should be all right without it. This helps hold down the metallics on those larger metallic colors like you are using.

taz has good advice. I like to put intercoat down so see how the metallics actually look before proceeding. Sometimes I use it as a wet bed also to allow the metallics to lay better.
