new guy needs mixing help

I just signed on and posted on the introduction forum. Hopefully some of you guys can help me out. Surely the answers are here somewhere but not sure how much I would have to read to find it. Lately, I have building fishing rods and want to add a little flash to my builds. Mainly custom colored reel seats, and maybe the reel to match. I have some blue green color change pearl and I'm not sure how much to add to the clear. The suggested mix does me no good because I will only be mixing a few CC's at a time. So, I can figure out how much to add if I know what kind of coverage needed on a coat. Can somebody describe how "heavy" the pearl should be in each coat to get a good color change? An example would be the first coat after the black base, how much pearl should I see? I know this may be difficult to describe, but any help would be much appreciated. Im told there should be five or six coats to get a good change, does that sound reasonable? Thanks for reading. From what I've seen so far, you guys do amazing work.

painting pearl over a black base you will see the pearl much faster so you would use less pearl than you would with a light color best thing to do is just mix up some clear and put in a little pearl like a tenth of a gram per ounce maybe just to start you may find out you need less or more but you will need to make a sample sprayed over the black base and you decide how much or how little you need.

Just remember a little pearl goes a long way

Thanks Wydir. Thats what I figured I would have to do. Mixing that small of an amount of anything is going to be a PITA.

I have all kinds of weird stuff on my paint bench, as I am always painting multiple colors, small batches, etc. I use measuring cups (stainless, as in for baking, cooking), as well as pipettes and beakers in various sizes ( available from lab supply stores). A pipette or eye dropper will give you pretty accurate results in mixing small amounts of pearl into clear, repeated times.
